Cultivar Origin:
This was purchased as a seedling from a random person off of Facebook who did not remember it's origin.
I have been just calling it a NOID for some time and would like to name it as it is gaining popularity for how cool and unique it is.
Name Origin:
It is the name of a sci-fi character who saved a race of aliens from extinction. It is pretty alien looking and one of a kind, so I figured it was fitting.
Growth Habit:
Anthurium Ender grows tall arching petioles that start upward and flatten/lower with age. The petioles are just regular, nothing fancy about them. They are burgundy. The plant grows upwards and produces a fair amount of offshoots. The internodal spacing is very average.
Leaf Blade:
The leaves emerge dark burgundy and dramatically cup shaped. They color change to purple, or more accurately, blue and red at the same time, and then to nearly black. After several months, the leaf will fade to dark green. They are nearly perfectly round on top, with a point at the bottom. This leads me to believe that they have Forgetii in their genetic history. The veining also emerges burgundy, but with age, becomes white, raised, and with near perfect symmetry.
Bloom and Fruit:
The bloom is burgundy all the way through before pollenation. Generally, the berries are burgundy with white base, but it is currently holding delta force pollen, and the berries are green with no signs of color change. It flowers regularly, but does not take to it's own pollen easily.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This plant is round with a cup shape emergent with striking unique coloration and symmetry. The vein pattern is quite uniquely perfect as well. The evolution of color on this plant is like no other I have seen.
