Anthurium cv. 'Xing Huo' is a spontaneous sport found in tissue culture seedlings of Anthurium cv. 'Altimo' .
Name Origin:
'Xing Huo' (星火) means a small torch in Chinese, it is is a spontaneous sport of the cultivar 'Altimo'. 'Altimo' also names ‘Olympic flame’, because of its dark-red and large-diameter spadix. While the spadix of ‘Xing Huo’ is pink-red and slenderer, just like a small torch. So it was named 'Xing Huo' .
Growth Habit:
It is a small-size cultivar with an erect stature, not climbing.
Leaf Blade:
Juvenile leaves are brown and turn dark green when they mature (13 cm long and 9 cm wide on average), the apex of the leaf blade is narrow and acuminate, the circular lobes are small, flat and non-contact.The petiole length is 24 cm.
Bloom and Fruit:
It has a small-size and heart-shaped spathe (7.8 cm long and 5.8 cm wide), unicolored red (RHS 046C), without round lobes. Its spadix is short and erect, the base is pink and the main color of the apex is red. Its inflorescence can produce fertile pollen. After artificial pollination, it can bear fruit normally, and the mature berries are orange.
