Base Species or Cultivar:
A natural sport mutation originating from Philodendron Hederaceum Brasil. Mutation has been stable throughout multiple generations of propagation through stem cuttings.
(Multiple stable propagations from mother plant shown in last photo named "Carnival_Propagations-via-mother-plant")
The name 'Carnival' was inspired by the festival Carnival - keeping with the naming tradition of Brasil and Rio.
Low growing, cascading, trailing, vining
Same leaf structure as Brasil. Cordate. Smooth, waxy, glossy.
Bloom and Fruit:
Instead of the standard chartreuse centers of Philodendron Brasil, Philodendron Carnival has an addition of darker silvery-green colored centers bordered by the chartreuse. Carnival variegation patterns range from outer dark green edges, silvery centers with chartreuse separating the two - to leaves containing no dark green, only silvery green centers with chartreuse reaching to the edges. The variegation patterns and the addition of the silvery centers mimic the characteristics of Philodendron Rio, but with chartreuse in place of Rio's white variegation.
